Leeds United: Daniel Farke spotted with Patrick Bamford after miss in win v Hull
Daniel Farke was spotted speaking to Patrick Bamford with a grin after the 3-1 win over Hull City in which the Leeds United striker missed a chance from point-blank range.
Graham Smyth spotted the pair joking at the full-time whistle on 1 April, as goals from Sam Byram, Crysencio Summerville and Dan James sealed the points.
Mateo Joseph came off the bench once again to make a massive difference at Elland Road, with real pressure on the number nine to keep his spot at this moment.
Writing for Yorkshire Evening Post, Smyth said: “Farke with a word and a grin for Bamford, and a big embrace for Rutter.”
Daniel Farke talks with Patrick Bamford
Bamford missing chances is nothing new to the Elland Road faithful, but nor is his tireless running, exceptional link-up play, and his status as the striker who fired Leeds to the Championship title in 2020.
Unlike his misses against Leicester and Newcastle towards the end of the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League last season, the Leeds fans were still able to celebrate at the end of this game, thanks to the late goals from Summerville and James.

Farke, an ex-striker himself in Germany’s lower leagues, knows that no attacker can score every chance put in front of them, and he’ll no doubt have reassured Bamford that the unique qualities he brings to the team are what keep him as Leeds’ number nine, ahead of both Joel Piroe and super-sub Joseph.
It would be no surprise to see Bamford keep his spot at Coventry.
