Leeds United ‘to make managerial change’ in Daniel Farke sack verdict
Daniel Farke’s managerial credentials have been questioned this term, even though Leeds could clinch promotion to the Premier League on Monday.
The German twice guided Norwich City to promotion from the Championship to the top flight in both 2019 and 2021, but failed to perform in the Premier League on both occasions.
He was sacked by the Canaries in November 2021 and returned to the English game when he joined Leeds in the summer of 2023.
Last season, Farke steered Leeds to the Championship playoff final, but failed to get the better of Southampton at Wembley.

Shock sack admission as Farke and Leeds close in on promotion
If the Whites beat Stoke on Monday and Sheffield United fail to beat second-place Burnley, Farke’s men will clinch promotion with two games to spare.
But speaking on TalkSPORT [21 April, 12:23 pm], Scott Minto was asked which of the current Championship top three is most likely to change.
He said: “The Premier League is getting stronger and the Championship isn’t.
“Let’s just say of the three, Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, Scott Parker at Burnley, and Daniel Farke at Leeds. Ironically enough, out of those three, if I were to say a change should possibly happen, then they may well win the title, Leeds, I’d say them.”
Leeds should stick with Farke if they win promotion
Even if Leeds do not get the job done on Monday, the Whites still look set to compete in next season’s Premier League and seem likely to lift the Championship title.
Opponent | Result |
Middlesbrough (A) | 0-1 A |
Preston (H) | 2-1 W |
Oxford (A) | 0-1 W |
If the West Yorkshire giants achieve that notable feat, they should keep Farke at the managerial helm regardless of the German’s previous record in the Premier League.
Farke should be more capable of keeping Leeds in the top flight than he was of keeping Norwich in the Premier League, as the Elland Road club are likely to give him greater backing in the transfer market.
While their prospective Rangers takeover deal is still ongoing, the 49ers Enterprises have been strong owners for Leeds, and look set to enjoy a positive summer transfer window.
The Whites have already set their sights on the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach and Germany international midfielder Julian Weigl, who played under Farke at the Bundesliga club.
Big changes are coming this summer, regardless.
