Leeds United: Dan James spotted in new injury worry after Middlesbrough win, doesn’t look good

Leeds United winger Dan James headed straight down the tunnel with the Whites’ physios following the clash with Middlesbrough, according to Graham Smyth.

Daniel Farke’s side climbed back into the automatic promotion places in the Championship with a remarkable 4-3 win at the Riverside on Monday (22 April) thanks to goals from Crysencio Summerville, Patrick Bamford and Wilfried Gnonto.

But the win could well have come at a cost as Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Smyth spotted second half substitute James trudge straight towards the changing room with an injury that didn’t “look to good”.

Writing on X on Monday (22 April) he said: “James is trudging towards the tunnel with the physios holding his ribs. Doesn’t look too good. The rest of the team are celebrating with the away end.”

Has Dan James picked up a new Leeds United injury worry in win v Middlesbrough?

Leeds United are going to need as many of their big stars fit and available as they possibly can between now and the end of the season, especially as they look to make an immediate return to the Premier League under Farke.

While James didn’t start the clash at the Riverside Stadium, the Welsh international has been in exceptional form so far this season and he certainly has the ability to turn a game on it’s head in a single action.

Hopefully, the winger headed straight down the tunnel as a matter of precaution rather than anything more serious, but it will be a worry that the Welsman didn’t feel that he was able to celebrate with his teammates.

Leeds are blessed with plenty of depth in the wide areas currently, with the likes of Jaidon Anthony and Mateo Jospeh more than equipped to step up if required. If James is ruled out for the final two games, the Whites do have plenty of depth.
