Leeds United could let five players leave Elland Road in August

There is a possibility that up to five Leeds United players could leave Elland Road this summer, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Jesse Marsch has already made six summer signings but only two significant players have left the club in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips which has seen his squad bloat in size compared to last season.

As a result, a number of players could be set to leave Thorp Arch over the next month but not all will be going for good as a couple of loans for Stuart McKinstry and Lewis Bate are on the cards.

While those two look set to stay contracted to the Whites, Kiko Casilla is bound to leave for good and Ian Poveda could also leave permanently although his move would initially be a loan.

Helder Costa may also temporarily leave the club on loan after he scored zero goals for Valencia last season and seems to have no chance of a place in Marsch’s squad after being left out of the Australia tour.

In the instance of Costa, Casilla and Poveda, a permanent exit would be best for all three of them because it is clear that their ship has sailed at Leeds United.

They all got a chance to shine and none of them were able to keep their heads above water in the Premier League for a variety of reasons and now they need to just leave and start again elsewhere.

It would also allow the Whites to get plenty of money off the current wage bill which should help fund further transfer moves with the American still searching for a striker and a left back to complete his side.

Bate and McKinstry are two of the club’s most promising youngsters meanwhile and a season out on loan in the Football League would be the perfect move for them at this time if they can find the right move both financially and positionally in the pyramid.
