Leeds United contract update with Adam Forshaw Elland Road exit announced

Leeds United have reportedly opened talks with Adam Forshaw over a new contract on the day they announced their retained list.

The Whites announced on 12 June that despite the 31-year-old being released he will be invited back to pre-season training.

It’s now being reported in the Daily Mail that they’re already in talks with him over penning a new deal at Elland Road.

Baffling

It’s strange to see Leeds opening talks on the day they announced that he will be leaving.

His contract lasts until the end of June and if it was to open his options then that was done since the first of January.

Leeds were under no obligation to announce their retained list and could’ve waited until the end of the month as well.

The decision to keep Forshaw surely will be hinging on a lot of things which includes who the new manager is and what midfielders will be leaving the club.

Currently, he’s not first choice and if everyone’s fit, he may not even get minutes off the bench so that must be taken into account.

He’s also on the wrong side of 30 and has injury concerns so handing him a new deal and banking on his fitness is a pretty big gamble so it’s going to be an interesting call either way for Leeds.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
