Leeds United contract U-turn wows Sky Sports pundit as ‘wise’ development emerges
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson believes it’s the right move for Leeds United to offer Adam Forshaw a new contract after initially releasing the midfielder.
TEAMtalk reported on 27 June that Leeds have now offered the 31-year-old a new deal on reduced terms following the club’s relegation.
Robinson feels it makes a lot of “sense” to offer the former Brentford man a new deal ahead of the upcoming Championship season.

“It makes a lot of sense to offer him a new contract. He played a big part towards the end of last season and was fantastic. He did so well to come back and play the number of games he did,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“Next season they will need people like him. Liam Cooper, Luke Ayling and Forshaw. That’s the spine of the team, the leaders in the dressing room.
“I think it would be very wise to offer him a new contract. I am looking forward to seeing him sign it and play at Elland Road next season.”

Forshaw featured 12 times for Leeds during the 2022/23 season, however, the majority came towards the back end of the campaign.
He started every single one of Sam Allardyce’s matches in charge of the club after missing large parts of the season through injury.
In other Leeds United news, the club are set to react to an impending Elland Road exodus with “ambitious” incoming transfer plans.
