Leeds United contract extension snubbed by Mateusz Bogusz ahead of LAFC transfer
Mateusz Bogusz has revealed that he snubbed a contract extension at Leeds United in order to sign for MLS side Los Angeles FC.
After four years at Leeds, the Polish youngster made the switch to the US last month, having been out on loan at Spanish side Ibiza.
The attacking midfielder joined Leeds from Polish club Ruch Chorzow in 2019, but only made three appearances for the first team.

When asked if he had offers besides the one from LAFC, Bogusz told Przeglad Sportowy: “I had heard that there were some, but they were more like the possibility of another loan.
“I also had the option of a longer contract with Leeds. There I signed a three-year contract with an option to extend it and the club wanted to take advantage of it, so I could return to Leeds next season.”

Fresh challenge
As with many youngsters, Bogusz was sent out on loan by Leeds in order to progress and learn his trade, with the forward having temporary spells at Logrones and Ibiza.
But while others in a similar position, both career-wise and indeed on the pitch, have fought their way into first team contention at Leeds, the Polish forward has opted to play elsewhere, which is understandable given his lack of opportunities at Leeds.
He may also be thinking about the near future, with the Yorkshire outfit in real danger of dropping down a level to the Championship.
It’s been quite a career for someone so young, with the 21-year-old now linking up with legendary defender Giorgio Chiellini in Los Angeles.
A growing number of young players are turning to MLS to further their careers, but a return to the Premier League further down the line for Bogusz shouldn’t be ruled out if he can hit the ground running at his new club.
In other Leeds United news, Kalvin Phillips has sent Jack Harrison a four-word message after the winger signed a new long-term deal at Elland Road.
