Leeds United contact Arne Slot as ‘watertight’ Feyenoord contract news emerges
Leeds United had made contact with Feyenoord coach Arne Slot to be their new manager, but sources close to the manager insist that his contract with the Dutch giants remains “watertight”, according to Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones.
The Whites are scrambling for a new manager following Jesse Marsch’s sacking on Monday, following a dreadful run of results that left them in the relegation places before his departure.
Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam told the Dick Voormekaar Podcast [7 February] that Slot, 44, is on Leeds’ radar after an impressive season and a half in charge at Feyenoord.

However, reports in Dutch outlet Voetbal International emerged yesterday [8 February] stating that while Slot’s name was on Leeds’ shortlist, it is unlikely he’ll make the switch from Feyenoord following current impressive their pursuit of the Dutch Eredivisie title.
And according to Simon Jones, writing in the Daily Mail today [9 February, pg 77] reported that the Whites did indeed make contact with the talented coach but his contract at the De Kuip Stadium remains “watertight” and that he wished to continue with Feyenoord in their impressive title chase.
Where now?
So the Whites have now been rejected by three managers all in the space of two days.
First, top target Carlos Corberan rejected the chance of a return to Elland Road by signing a new deal at West Brom.

Then, Rayo Vallecano coach Andoni Iraola favoured a stay in the Spanish La Liga the opportunity right before their showdown with Manchester United, and the club’s pursuit of Slot was always going to end in disappointment, following his side’s stunning progress in the Dutch top flight.
Celtic’s manager Ange Postecoglou even favoured a stay in Glasgow too, so where does the director of football Victor Orta turn to now?
When chairman Andrea Radrizzani made a “white smoke” claim (via Twitter, 7 February) about being close to a new appointment, many of the Whites fans will have never expected the club now to be back to square one in their pivotal search for new leadership.
