Leeds United confirmed XI vs Manchester United: Marc Roca nowhere to be seen, Weston McKennie makes first start

Leeds United have confirmed their starting XI for the Premier League derby clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Caretaker boss Michael Skubala has made two changes from the side that lost to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with midfielders Marc Roca and Liam Cooper dropping out of the team in place of January signing Weston McKennie and Robin Koch, who’s back from suspension.

As confirmed on Twitter [8 February], Skubala has decided to play McKennie to partner his US compatriot Tyler Adams in midfield while Roca and Cooper are nowhere to be seen in the squad.

Post-Marsch era begins

The post-Jesse Marsch era begins tonight as the Whites take on high-flying Manchester United in the Premier League at Old Trafford – the first of a double Roses derby header.

The West Yorkshire outfit enters this contest managerless following Marsch’s sacking on Monday, and much of the talk tonight will of course centre around what sort of mind frame the players will have approaching this game.

Any team, whatever situation they’re in, are expected to be fired up for a local derby, and that’s what makes this contest all the more unpredictable.

There is no reason why the Whites can’t go and cause an upset at Old Trafford, despite the predicament they find themselves in. Just two wins in 17 games, and now wins in seven Premier League games means the club enter this game in dreadful form.

Can the players picked by Skubala make an impression tonight?
