Leeds United complete quadruple appointment as Daniel Farke deal finalised – Phil Hay
Leeds United have completed deals for four backroom staff members, including manager Daniel Farke and assistant Eddie Riemer.
The Athletic’s Phil Hay revealed (4 July) that Farke will be joined by his assistant Riemer, opposition-analysis head Christopher John and head of performance Chris Domogalla.
Riemer was signed as a player by Farke when he managed Lippstadt in the German fifth division and has remained his assistant coach in his spells at Norwich City and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Familiar faces
Having a strong relationship among the backroom staff of any football club can go a long way in ensuring quality management, and these four are certainly familiar with each other.
Farke, Reimer, John and Domogalla all joined forces at Norwich City, where they won two promotions to the Premier League and cemented themselves as safe hands in the Championship.
Their recent stint at Gladbach did not bring similar success, with Farke and his staff sacked just two days before their one-year anniversary at the club with just 12 league wins out of 36 played.
But Farke has become something of a promotion expert, and that is exactly the experience that Leeds will be after for the coming campaign.
Farke sets high standards and is known for his passion in the dressing room. Speaking to The Athletic regarding a Norwich 2019 pre-season friendly, Reimer said: “Before the players came in, he kicked these things. Then, when talking to the players, he was still emotional, but more objective about what the players needed.
“I have to adore a little bit how he’s doing these things because it’s tough to do sometimes.”
This mentality will be counted on to help Leeds bounce right back after relegation.
While Leeds took a long time to find their Sam Allardyce replacement amidst the turmoil of the 49er’s takeover of the club, fans will find solace in the fact that they have real Championship experts on their books.
