Leeds United complete appointment of Paco Gallardo as Victor Orta plays key role

Leeds United have reportedly completed the appointment of coach Paco Gallardo with Victor Orta playing a key role in the move.

According to Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo on November 1, the Spaniard has made the leap to the Premier League.

He will take charge of the under-21s along with being a first-team coach and he will also be the link between the academy and the first team – which Orta sees as a very important role.

Mucho Deporte reported earlier that Orta was keen to bring him in and he was on the cusp of joining, but that now appears to have gone through.

Good move

It’s good to see Orta helping with the restructuring of the club and moving so quickly to bring the Spaniard to Elland Road.

He’s previously been at Sevilla and has been influential in the way they’ve conducted their transfer activity so we’re expecting him to have a similar impact at Leeds.

This appointment does not seem to be Jesse Marsch’s call so there’s a good chance that the Whites are making structural changes without his input.

The American does appear to be fighting for his job and if one of his allies would’ve joined, it could’ve sent a message that the club are backing him through this tough time.

However, Orta is doing his job and it’s now on the club to decide how much more time Marsch will get before they decide to pull the trigger.

Things have been far from easy this season and we’re unsure how much say Gallardo will having on the senior side with the American already having his coaches in place.

In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered Jesse Marsch’s “sack” verdict after what he heard last month.
