Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh travels to Spain despite contract squabbles

Leeds United youngster Cody Drameh has travelled with the squad to Spain for a training camp, despite contract talks over a new deal hitting the skids recently.

TeamTalk journalist Graeme Bailey revealed on 2 December that contract talks between Leeds United and Drameh had stalled completely and an exit was likely.

Nevertheless, Drameh appeared on Leeds United’s YouTube channel taking part in some warm-weather training as the club prepares for a Premier League return.

Luke Ayling and Rasmus Kristensen currently sit above Drameh in Jesse Marsch’s ranks and it seems the academy starlet is looking for a way out of Elland Road because of this.

Newcastle United, West Ham United and Crystal Palace seem to be the favourites for Drameh’s signature and will likely make moves for him.

Foolish?

There is fuel to the fire of the team’s being interested in Drameh’s signature and it’s frustrating that Leeds United may let him leave the club so easily.

Drameh is a top talent and this is evident by the number of teams who are interested in luring him away from Elland Road this season.

The 20-year-old arguably fits the bill for the type of player Leeds United wants in their ranks and it’s bizarre that they’re not doing everything to keep him at the club.

Drameh’s current contract runs until 2024 so there is still plenty of time to convince the youngster of staying in West Yorkshire, but he’ll need to be given game time by Marsch.

Ayling is on the tail end of his career and Kristensen doesn’t fill fans with confidence as the man to be Leeds’ right-back for seasons to come.

This leaves the door wide open for Drameh to make his mark in the second half of he season, with luck, he’ll be given the opportunity to do so.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
