Leeds United close to signing Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay

Leeds United are reportedly closing on their first January signing in the form of Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay.

According to Italian media outlet Corriere Di Bologna, Aberdeen wanted an obligation to buy in the deal without any conditions while Bologna were not open to that – putting them out of the race.

Leeds are believed to have already made a £3million bid and included a resale clause should they sell the 18-year-old for a profit in the future.

It’s believed that Leeds are now close to sealing this deal, in what would be their first signing of the transfer window.

Ramsay’s is one of the hottest prospects in European football as he’s clearly outperforming others at his age.

He currently holds the feat for having the most assists this season of any teenage defender in the game this season.

Knowing how Marcelo Bielsa likes his full-backs to often play like wingers, the Scottish defender would be a perfect fit for his system.

When compared to all teenagers in every position, Ramsay is still in a respectable fourth place.

When names like Jude Bellingham just a handful assists ahead of him, the teenager is clearly doing something right at the club.

Luke Ayling is 30 and it’s time that the club plan for the long term and Ramsay is ideal for that.

He would also be a better version of Cody Drameh and would be ahead of him in the pecking order next season.
