Leeds United clause to be triggered at Elland Road very soon

Leeds United are set to extend their training kit sponsorship deal with Unibet very soon, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on page 71 of its print edition on Friday (22 March) that the gambling company are understood to have an option to extend their initial one-year deal with the Whites by a further 12 months.

It added that the deal is set to be triggered irrespective of which division the club are playing in next season as Daniel Farke’s side go in pursuit of promotion at Elland Road.

This development shows that Leeds are already taking steps ahead of next season and getting their sponsorship deals in place.

There was some disappointment amongst the fans when the deal was initially announced as there has been widespread criticism of how involved gambling companies have become within football.

While many people don’t like to see those betting logos plastered over the middle of their team’s shirts, they clearly bring in quite a bit of money for clubs.

There are several sides that have reached sponsorship agreements with gambling firms over the past few years despite some of the controversy surrounding the topic.

There is a ban coming into force on betting sponsors being shown on the front of shirts on matchdays from the 2026-27 season, but it’s unclear how that could impact training kit deals.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are ready to sell a midfielder for £10.3million after what he told the media.
