Leeds ready to pay £34.4million for Charles De Ketelaere signing, will test waters with lower bid

Leeds United are ready to pay £34.3million and smash their club-record fee to secure the signing of Club Brugges star Charles De Ketelaere this summer, according to 90min.

The online outlet has reported that Leicester are ready to pay that fee, which is the asking price, and are confident of winning the race themselves for the long-term target.

It is said that both Leeds and the Foxes will likely test the water with a lower bid compared to the asking price, to see if they can get a deal over the line for closer to £25.8million.

Leicester have numerous Belgian players on their ranks, and that is something that could tip the balance in their favour for this potential move.

However, they don’t have a huge influx of money coming in any time soon, and that is exactly the weapon that Leeds can fall back on this summer.

Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha are on the verge of leaving the club, and that leaves a war chest of more than £100million for Victor Orta to play with.

Andrea Radrizzani looks to be ready to smash the club-record transfer fee once again with that windfall, after doing it in our first year back in the Premier League for Rodrigo.

Ready, Steady, Go.

The race is well and truly on now.

De Ketelaere will be analysing his options and it may look as though AC Milan are ahead in this race, but will they have the money available to them that the Premier League clubs do.

We don’t think so at this very moment, so if a huge proposal comes on the table from Orta and Leeds, how could he say no? With the Premier League the most-watched in the world.

If the Belgian superstar performs in the Premier League, he is guaranteed that spot on the plane to Qatar for the World Cup, with minutes surely more guaranteed at Elland Road over the San Siro.

Leeds are said to be extremely keen, so why not pay the asking price immediately? It would be smart to get ahead of Leicester and Milan, and open contact over personal terms to get this over the line.

The race is well and truly on, and it looks as though Orta is ready to do everything in his power to get it over the line.
