Leeds United ‘busy summer’ mooted ahead of Elland Road ‘rebuild’
Beren Cross has already predicted a “busy summer” for Leeds United, whether or not Premier League promotion is achieved this season.
Despite missing out on automatic promotion, the Whites still have an opportunity to gain promotion via the Championship play-offs and are set to take on Norwich City in the semi-final second leg on Thursday 16 May.
Stefan Borson revealed that Leeds are at risk of breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules if they are to be promoted, which could force a number of changes at Elland Road this summer.
Writing for Leeds Live on Wednesday (15 May), Cross wrote: “Whether Leeds are promoted or not, it is expected to be another busy summer for Daniel Farke and the club’s top brass.
“Another season in the second tier would see wealthy vultures circling for the best Leeds talent and Farke’s side keen to cut their cloth accordingly without top-flight income.
“That would also mean the German needs to rebuild his side, with the help of Gretar Steinsson and Nick Hammond, into another promotion contender on an even tighter budget.”
Leeds United must avoid PSR breaches ahead of next season
While Leeds are said to be at risk of PSR breaches next season, the club have several ways that they can avoid any monetary issues, one of which is the number of players at Elland Road.
Of course, due to the Whites dropping down to the Championship last season, many players jumped ship, joining European sides on loan while the club attempts to regain its position in the top tier.
Daniel Farke has already made his stance on those loan players very clear, with the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Rasmus Kristensen and Jack Harrison facing the axe this summer.

This would certainly help Leeds solve some of their PSR issues, and the revenue from playing Premier League football would certainly help things even further.
Though remaining in the Championship for one more season would not be totally disastrous, it would call for several changes to be made at Elland Road, which could see Cross’ prediction come to fruition as soon as the summer transfer window opens.
