Leeds United Brenden Aaronson ‘burden’ emerges as Premier League return mooted

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has suggested Leeds United should be looking to shift Brenden Aaronson off the wage bill after the American was linked with a move to Fulham.

The Daily Mail reported on 26 June that the West Londoners are interested in the 22-year-old, with a loan agreement on the cards.

Leeds have a number of clauses inserted into contracts and Robinson has praised the board as a result.

“If they can’t move players on and recoup the transfer fee that they want, then shifting them off the wage bill – that’s a big thing. When you’ve got a burden of a huge Premier League wage bill around your neck, it’s difficult,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“As I said, Leeds would have structured the contracts very well. I don’t think there will be a huge rush to sell players. Relegation clauses are there so the board can continue to pay whatever players they want. There will be no fire sale, put it that way.”

At present, Leeds’ transfer work is currently on hold with the managerial announcement yet to be made. Daniel Farke is the leading candidate. The German has previously achieved promotion twice from the Championship with Norwich City.

In other Leeds United news, the club are set to react to an impending Elland Road exodus with “ambitious” incoming transfer plans.
