Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch to guest write for The Athletic during World Cup
Jesse Marsch has landed himself a temporary new job away from Leeds United with the American set to write for The Athletic during the World Cup.
The Athletic has announced (17 November), Marsch will be a guest writer during the tournament along with a number of current and ex-professionals and managers.
Marsch is joined by the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Juanma Lillo, Ben Mee, Clint Dempsey, Yaya Toure and Leah Williamson in writing for the website during the break.
It will be interesting to keep an eye on what Marsch has to say on other topics apart from Leeds United during the World Cup. The 49-year-old has prior experience coaching at the pinnacle of international football when he was assistant manager for the USA during the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
He will certainly be keeping a keen eye on proceedings on 25 November when the USA face England in what is promising to be an intriguing group-stage encounter. The Three Lions have really struggled for form heading into the tournament and could well be there for the taking for a US side who have some exciting up-and-coming players.
Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson will be watched eagerly by Leeds fans, who will be hoping their Elland Road heroes don’t inflict any national misery on Gareth Southgate’s men.
It’s refreshing to see a Premier League manager branch out to help with media duties, but let’s hope Marsch is also working just as hard on the training pitch with his players to ensure Leeds are more consistent after the World Cup break.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has revealed the whispers he’s heard at Elland Road about when the 49ers will complete their takeover.
