Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch intends to revive the Whites survival chances with inspirational quotes

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch is hoping to revive the Whites’ survival chances with the help of motivational quotes after falling into the Premier League bottom three.

The Yorkshire side fell to a miserable defeat at the Emirates on Sunday, a result which was compounded by Luke Ayling’s reckless red card.

The result saw Marsch’s side fall into the bottom three after Everton’s positive result at Leicester.

However, Marsch has revealed he has turned to using motivational quotes to kickstart the White’s relegation battle.

Talking to the Guardian, Marsch said: “I have hundreds of quotes I use at different moments.

“I try to think how they fit with who I am and how we play football.

“I love quotes, learning from people of the past.”

He added: “The key is understanding what messages to use at the right time.”

Marsch needs something

Marsch needs something from his Leeds side, and quick.

A win at the Emirates was always an unlikely scenario, however, the manner of their defeat was worrying.

Ayling’s horrific challenge and Raphinha completely losing his head were the two instances that presented a disjointed, emotional and desperate side.

Leeds should be looking at the example set by Frank Lampard and his Everton side.

In recent weeks, Everton have been a united group, with every single player fighting for each other.

Ayling letting his side down and Raphinha coming close to a mindless red card display a side that are not in it for each other.

Leeds United

Marsch does talk a good game, and there have been improvements in their performances, but he has to prevent any further capitulations from now until the end of the season.

It feels as if Leeds must take something from their home fixture against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea on Wednesday [May, 11].

Chelsea still need to wrap up their Champions League qualification but they do have an FA Cup final to prepare for on Saturday [May, 14].

In other Leeds United news, a first-team regular has turned down a new Elland Road contract and will sign it only under one condition.
