Leeds United boost as Alison Becker misses Liverpool training

Liverpool have been dealt a blow ahead of their Premier League clash against Leeds United after Alisson missed first-team training, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Alisson, 30, has been an everpresent for Jurgen Klopp’s side since completing his £65million move to Anfield in 2018 (The Guardian, 19 July 2018).

However, the Liverpool boss confirmed that the Brazilian and Ibrahima Konaté were both absent from training ahead of the clash with Javi Gracia’s side.

“We don’t like too much to talk about these kinds of things because then in the next moment, you get a call that somebody is out,” said the German (Liverpool Echo, 14 April).

“But we had a couple of problems this week: Ibou couldn’t train for two days, but should be back today hopefully, Ali wasn’t involved for two days, will train today individually.”

Tough test

Regardless of the pair missing training, there’s a strong chance they both start against Leeds on Monday evening. Alisson rarely misses a game for the Reds and with Liverpool having nothing in terms of cup commitments, it makes sense for Klopp to play his strongest team whenever possible.

The top four is an extremely long shot at present for the Reds, but all they can do is put wins on the board and hope those in front of them slip up. Failure to secure European football would be a blow to Klopp, with much of his summer business probably dependent on Liverpool’s participation in Europe.

From Leeds’ perspective, Gracia must ensure he improves his team’s game management. Against Crystal Palace, they were all over the place in the second half and made life extremely easy for Roy Hodgson’s side. If they produce a similar performance against Liverpool, the score could once again get rather ugly.

In other Leeds United news, the club have been blasted for their “stupid” decision amid a massive development this week.
