Leeds United board disagreement mooted amid ‘roll of dice’ at Elland Road – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson believes Andrea Radrizzani displayed too much faith in Victor Orta during the Spaniard’s time at Leeds United.

The sporting director was sacked at the start of May after Sam Allardyce was appointed as the club’s caretaker manager.

Speaking after Leeds’ relegation, Robinson feels the board displayed far too much faith in Orta, with a number of his summer signings failing to impress.

“I think possible, yeah [Radrizzani showed too much faith in Orta], a lot of people have to shoulder the blame and Orta is one of them,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Yes, he got Bielsa and Raphinha, he hangs his hat on the two. But you look at the recruitment. Marc Roca, Weston McKennie, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Junior Firpo. None of them have been good enough.

“The owner listens to who he wants to listen to and I suspect that Javi Gracia was Orta’s appointment as well. I strongly believe that Orta left the club because he didn’t want Sam Allardyce there. The owner was having one last roll of the dice.”

Leeds have been linked with a move for Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber in recent weeks as the restructure at Elland Road begins to gather pace.

In other Leeds United news, Radrizzani is on a collision course in Europe is he bids to complete a takeover of Sampdoria.
