Leeds United beaten to signing of Calvin Ramsay by Liverpool
Leeds United have been beaten to the signing of Aberdeen full-back Calvin Ramsay after Liverpool finally agreed on a deal for the 18-year-old as revealed by The Express.
It had been revealed by La Gazzetta Dello Sport on 25 June that Leeds were in the driving seat for the 18-year-old’s signature.
However, The Express claimed on Thursday 16 June that Liverpool have finally agreed on a fee for Ramsay after his impressive 2021/22 season for Aberdeen.

The fee is believed to be £5.5million including add-ons and a medical is “pending”.
Move on
Ramsay would’ve been a signing for the future for the Whites and could well have gone on to be an excellent addition for Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.
However, with the arrival of Rasmus Kristensen from RB Salzburg, the Whites really don’t need any more reinforcement at right-back.
With Cody Drameh as back-up to the new arrival as well as Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas as potential options, there seems little requirement for another right-back to come through the door at Elland Road.

In Kristensen Leeds have a player who is ready-made to make an impact at in the Premier League and it’s hard to say whether Ramsay would’ve had the same impact had he made the move to Yorkshire.
Leeds have a promising bunch of young players that can all make an impact on the first team this season.
It is good to see the Leeds’ boss add to his group of younger players, but it is crucial that he adds more players who are a similar age to Kristensen and are ready to make an immediate and positive first-team impact.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have verbally agreed a deal for a Spanish club to make a windfall due to a 20 per cent transfer clause.
