The American flew into England on Sunday after leaving the Serie A side’s game against Monza, and an official announcement is expected before the end of Monday (30 January).

David Ornstein reported [28 January] that fellow Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest were considering a late move for the USA international, but it seems as though the Whites have got their man.

According to talkSPORT [30 January], the Whites have fended off late interest from the Midlands outfit to secure the last-gasp loan signing of McKennie from Juventus, becoming the club’s third signing of the January window.

An announcement of the deal is reportedly expected imminently.

Top-tier signing

Leeds United have gone and acquired a top-tier signing in McKennie who will immediately come in and add quality to Jesse Marsch’s ranks this month.

The Whites boss held wishes to improve and bolster his midfield following the departure of Mateusz Klich to DC United, and the 24-year-old midfield is a stark upgrade.

A player with both European and international pedigree and experience is just the tonic Leeds needs to climb up the Premier League table, and he could well form a superb midfield partnership once again with his international teammate Tyler Adams.

A strong statement of intent from Leeds who are enjoying a very fruitful January transfer window. The pressure has only now increased on Marsch to deliver Premier League safety.

In other Leeds United news, another target may have slipped out of the Whites’ grip with an approach from Everton.
