Leeds United: BBC pundit says Mateo Joseph has won over Daniel Farke as starts mooted
Aidy White believes Mateo Joseph has finally won Daniel Farke’s trust after his recent performances for Leeds United.
The 20-year-old forward has been on the fringes of the Whites’ squad this season, making his 11th substitute appearance in the Championship as Leeds beat Stoke City 1-0 on Tuesday 5 March.
Having taken his chance against Chelsea in the FA Cup on Wednesday 28 February, netting a brace in a 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge, White believes the youngster could be set for more Leeds appearances.
Speaking via BBC Radio Leeds on Tuesday 5 March, the former Leeds star said: “For the time being him coming off the bench, and especially after his performance tonight and against Chelsea, he’s shown what he is about and won the trust of Daniel Farke.
“That is a very important thing to do as a young player. He will now put him on more often, I imagine as a substitute, and if someone gets injured, he could come in to start.”
Can Mateo Joseph become a key player for Leeds United?
Joseph has emerged as a huge prospect at Elland Road this season, pushing a once fan-favourite Joe Gelhardt down the pecking order and taking his spot in the team.
The 20-year-old forward, despite not scoring at senior level until the FA Cup clash with Chelsea, is a major talent and could play a huge role at Leeds in the future.
Right now, the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe, Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto leave little space for the youngster to spread his wings and showcase his talents.

It may be deemed that a short loan move could be the right move for Joseph, who will need as much game time as possible to continue his development, but fans will be excited to see more of the striker this season.
His brace against the Blues at Stamford Bridge showed exactly why Farke has continuously chosen over Gelhardt as a substitute, making a very big difference at the top of the pitch amid the struggling and tired legs of his teammates.
