Journalist delivers verdict on Leeds United and Weston McKennie transfer saga

Leeds United are aware that Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie could be available for a transfer this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites Director of Football Victor Orta will surely look for more money to invest into Jesse Marsch’s squad after spending £90million this summer.

Jones, who has written for EuroSport and Bleacher Report, admitted that Tottenham have looked at the midfielder before and Leeds alongside Chelsea are “aware” of the maestro’s availability.

“Spurs have looked at him before. Chelsea and Leeds are both aware of the fact he could become available,” said Jones as quoted by GIVEMESPORT.

“So, I think it’s a case of wait and see. Obviously, with the World Cup to come too, we will have to see what his condition and his state of mind is off the back of that.”

Marsch matters.

Any move Leeds United makes for McKennie will likely depend on his compatriot Marsch staying put at Elland Road this season.

Marsch has brought in a number of United States internationals to Yorkshire since being appointed as head coach, including Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.

If Marsch does stay, the American midfielder would offer Leeds a solid option in their engine room ranks and one who could be depended on.

But you also have to take into consideration that McKennie is only being linked with the Whites because of the American connection with Marsch.

McKennie would bring some Champions League pedigree to Elland Road if he did join, having played in the competition for Juventus and Schalke.

Nevertheless, this one definitely hangs in the balance with Marsch’s last life.

Despite this weekend’s heroic win over Liverpool, McKennie will likely look elsewhere once his time at Juventus comes to an end if Marsch leaves Elland Road.
