Another Leeds United signing on the cards with Luis Sinisterra stay ‘far from certain’ – Graham Smyth

Luis Sinisterra remaining at Leeds United past the transfer deadline is currently “far from certain” despite his return to the team, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported for the paper’s website on Wednesday (30 August) that the Colombian winger is one of a number of players who could still leave Elland Road before 11pm on 1 September, and if he does go the Whites would be “expected” to make another new attacking signing.

According to Smyth the club have “consistently stated their hope” of keeping the 24-year-old this summer who could be “arguably the most dangerous attacker in the entire division”, but while the transfer window has been “surprisingly quiet” when it comes to the former Feyenoord man there is believed to be interest before the deadline.

Sinisterra missed the games against Birmingham City and West Brom and trained alone – as did Willy Gnonto – in what was thought to be an attempt to leave the club, before making a goalscoring return in the 4-3 victory at Ipswich last Saturday (26 August).

Farke has suggested that the Colombian’s absence was different from his Italian teammate’s but didn’t elaborate on how [YEP, 24 August] – Gnonto had told the club he felt unable to play as he looked to move to Everton and submitted a written transfer request, but also came back in for the Ipswich game.

Another late twist?

It appeared everything was rosey again once Farke cleared the air with both players and brought them straight back into the starting line up at Portman Road to great effect.

But as the deadline approaches there is still plenty of time for plenty to change so if a club makes the Whites an offer they can’t refuse he will go.

Although Sinisterra’s release clause is believed to have expired it is still true that nearly every player has their price in the Championship, and Leeds United haven’t been able to confidently say anyone is definitely going nowhere all summer.

If Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville were to remain then there may be room to lose their wide teammate, with other options including Dan James, Ian Poveda and Jamie Shackleton.

But if the Whites will need another attacking signing through the door in the even he does leave there is precious little time to react with just over 48 hours left.

At this stage Farke would surely prefer to have his current charge to remain than to go through the trouble of replacing him and hoping a new man can adapt, even if Joel Piroe got up and running immediately.

In other Leeds United news, four teams are queuing up to sign a forgotten Whites ace that is barely featuring under Farke.
