Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto sets ball rolling for Enoch Owusu to leave Inter Milan

Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto has reportedly set the standard for young players at Inter Milan to leave and go on to have successful careers away from the San Siro.

According to Italian media outlet FC Inter News [16 December], Gnonto’s exit from Inter in 2020 is now being used as an example by others.

Enoch Owusu, who has been billed as one of the most “promising” young strikers at Inter is considering leaving to make his mark away from the Serie A giants.

In hindsight, Gnonto appears to have made the right decision as he moved to Zurich, became a first-team regular and made his Italy debut as a teenager.

Had he still been at Inter, minutes would’ve been hard to come by for him and he would not have been on Leeds’ radar or have made the Italy squad.

Big clubs often stock up on talents and do not give them the licence to make that jump into senior football and that’s not the right thing to do.

Leeds, on the other hand, have promoted several young players over the last few years which is why Thorp Arch is such a famed academy in Europe.

Gnonto’s already been getting first-team minutes and we expect him to feature more prominently in the second half of the season.

He has shown why Leeds ended up buying him on deadline day as he’s an absolutely talented young attacker who’s only going to get better with time.

In other Leeds United news, the club are set to stay in touch with the agent of a striker at a big club ahead of a potential January transfer.
