Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto can be pivotal to convince Mateo Retegui to move to Elland Road
Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto can look to convince his Italian compatriot Mateo Retegui to move to Elland Road amid transfer links.
The 23-year-old striker made headlines in Italy as he was picked by Roberto Mancini for the national squad ahead of big-name players.
Gnonto was another to get the nod with Mancini opting for younger players and the two surely would have built some sort of camaraderie in the dressing room.

It is now understood that Leeds want to continue signing young Italy forwards as they’re keen on Retegui over the summer.
RAI journalist Ciro Venerato told Area Napoli, “Yes, I can confirm that Eintracht Frankfurt is on Retegui’s trail also because Kolo Muani will leave.
“Leeds and the two Milan teams are also keen on the player. Inter has come forward for the player, speaking to both the player and the striker.
“There is only one small problem: the Nerazzurri management, at the moment, does not yet have the money to buy the striker.”
Thus far it’s a pretty open race and Gnonto should step in and play the role of an agent in order to get him to move to Leeds.

It’s undoubtedly a better league than Serie A or Bundesliga to showcase his talents and if he’s got bigger ambitions, the exposure he gets in the English top flight will be second to none.
Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo are both injury worries and can’t be banked on for the long term while Georginio Rutter is still not looked at as a number nine.
Thus, signing Retegui would make a lot of sense and it remains to be seen if Victor Orta and co can pull it off.
In other Leeds United news, a teenager now looks closer than ever to his debut after what he did at Thorp Arch during the international break with Javi Gracia taking note.
