Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter displayed negative body language this week – Phil Hay
Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter displayed negative body language despite featuring for a winning side v the Nottingham Forest under-21s.
The Whites won 3-0 on Monday, 15 May, which got them promoted and the Frenchman featured in that game.
The Athletic’s Phil Hay was in attendance at the game and discussed what he saw of the 20-year-old and his chances of playing against West Ham.
He said on the Phil Hay Show, “I think you could see from his body language [Under-21s game v Nottingham Forest] that it’s hardly worked at Leeds.
“Actually, it’s remotely worked for him. He has hardly been involved.
“I can see raw ability and natural talent but I think the only conclusion you could draw from that game against Nottingham is that you could see nothing that says he should start at West Ham.”
Waste of a signing?
There’s no suggesting that Rutter will not come good in the future but he wasn’t the player Leeds needed.
In January, the Whites needed a proven goal scorer who could push towards 10 goals in the final few months of the campaign.
If they broke their club record on a player, the expectation is that he walks into the playing eleven.

However, he’s perhaps third or fourth choice in most attacking positions and that’s not impressive for the Frenchman.
Had Sam Allardyce been in charge in January, he would’ve gone for an old school English forward but one who’d guarantee goals.
Rutter was clearly a heavy gamble taken at the time of the season when they didn’t need to take any risks and it’s not paid off.
In other Leeds United news, an exit-bound senior player was spotted in tears after what happened recently.
