Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson included in WhoScored biggest rating decrease rankings top 10
Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson has been included in WhoScored’s top 10 list of Premier League players to have suffered the biggest rating decrease since the 2022 World Cup.
The list involves players to have made at least 10 appearances before the competition in Qatar and eight appearances following the tournament.
Aaronson joins Manchester City trio Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden on the list, with the Leeds forward sitting in sixth place.
“Brenden Aaronson endured a so-so start to life at Leeds, which saw him notch up a goal and two assists, but has been the subject of poor form and this has contributed to the American losing his place, with his minutes reduced since the start of the season,” according to WhoScored.
“As such, his WhoScored rating has decreased from 6.73 to 6.14, which is the lowest rating of any of the 10 with the largest decreases.”

Aaronson was a regular at Elland Road upon joining Leeds from Red Bull Salzburg last summer, with his talent on show for all to see.
But that talent has not shone to its fullest in the final third, with the attacker picking up just one goal and two assists from his 26 league matches.
Moreover, he failed to register any goals or assists in his four FA Cup appearances, with his lack of final product leading to his dismissal from the starting XI.
Such club form has also impacted his career with the United States, with the forward in and out of the starting XI for his nation in recent times.
He did, however, find the back of the net against Grenada on Saturday (25 March), and has been starting under new Leeds boss Javi Gracia, with a potentially strong finish to the campaign from Aaronson incoming.
It’s worth remembering that Aaronson is just 22 years old, and like many other young players that have come before him, he may need a little bit more time to fully adjust to English football.
It also doesn’t hurt to be included in a list alongside Haaland, De Bruyne and Foden, regardless of what is being discussed…
