Leeds United ask about Scott McTominay, Manchester United deliver transfer stance
Manchester United are not willing to let Scott McTominay leave Old Trafford as Leeds United show interest in the midfielder, according to 90min.
It’s understood Erik ten Hag views the 26-year-old as a big part of his plans and McTominay himself is not looking to leave United (90min, 13 January).
United haven’t received any bids for the midfielder as of yet, but it’s believed Leeds, Everton, West Ham and Leicester have all asked about the Scotland international’s situation.
A move for McTominay seems like a long shot but the rumour is further indication that Jesse Marsch wants to add another midfielder to his squad.
Mateusz Klich’s departure has left a sizable gap which needs filling. The board have been very supportive of the Leeds boss and it will be interesting to see if they allow him one last foray into the market to land another midfielder.
With the club set to announce the signing of Georginio Rutter for a club-record fee and Max Wober all ready through the door at Elland Road, this could be another window where Leeds spend significant money.
Unfortunately for Marsch, he will now be expected to deliver and push his side up into the middle of the Premier League table come the end of the season.
This squad has been expensively assembled and its current league position doesn’t reflect the quality within it. The sooner Leeds pull away from a potential relegation battle the better.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are keen on signing this Wolves player in January.
