Leeds United are undecided in taking part in the safe standing trial

Leeds United are undecided about taking part in the safe standing trial after the UK government announced that clubs could take part in a trial.

Leeds Live, though, report that the Whites have yet to decide if they are going to make an application, but they have until October 6 to do so.

Angus Kinnear discussed safe standing recently on The Square Ball podcast, and he hinted that the club would be willing to take part in a trial, so it will be interesting to see if they follow through on Kinnear’s words.

Will Leeds go for it?

Given that the Whites have such a fantastic fan base, we would be very surprised if they didn’t decide to take the risk and submit an application.

Standing in football is allowed in most of Europe and also in the lower leagues of the English game but not the Premier League, and it is about time that they brought it back.

Therefore, we believe that this is a fantastic idea, and we would hope that Leeds would be one of the first clubs pushing to be part of the trial.

You would really think that this could make a huge impact on the atmosphere at Elland Road and make the stadium even more hostile for away fans.

The chance to stand in a special area has been something long forgotten about at the top of the English game, and it is brilliant to see changes are being made.

Hopefully, the Whites decide to sign up for this new trial.
