Leeds United: Archie Gray rejects approach on advice of father Andy amid months of calls
Scotland have “consistently” made calls about getting Archie Gray to switch international allegiances but the Leeds United youngster’s family are advising him against it, according to TEAMtalk.
The outlet reported via their website on 11 March that a “major approach” from north of the border has been rejected by the teenager, who has so far represented England from under-15s to under-20 level.
Despite his father Andy, uncle Eddie, and grandfather Frank, all having played for the Tartan Army Andy is advising the 17-year-old not to rush any decisions and stick with the Three Lions for now.
Attempts from Scotland to tempt the Whites’ breakout star are reportedly ongoing but family influence is helping keep him where he is.
Scotland want Leeds United star to follow in family footsteps
Gray has the football world at his feet currently, having been thrust into the starting line up at Elland Road by Daniel Farke amid an absence of other options at the start of the campaign and taken to senior football like it was nothing.
Having come through the ranks in the England set up it is perhaps no surprise that he and his family will wait to see if there are developments with Gareth Southgate’s senior side before making any commitment.
He is likely to get more opportunities quicker with Scotland, but given his start to life in the first team he might not struggle for them in future at Wembley either and, for now at least, there are more chances to feature in major tournaments with England.

Having started regularly in midfield and at right-back this term he will be able to see himself as a key part of the success if Leeds United succeed in making it back to the Premier League, which could be the trigger for a senior call-up.
But on his current trajectory he won’t be short of chances to make it to the top flight away from Elland Road either, with the likes of Liverpool [Daily Mail, 10 November] and Tottenham [Mail, 8 January] already interested in a transfer.
