Leeds United: Andrea Radrizzani footage emerges amid 'sensational' Sampdoria twist

Andrea Radrizzani has been spotted at Sampdoria’s Bogliasco sports centre as the Leeds United chief eyes a takeover of the Serie A club.

Calciomercato claim on 22 May that the “sensational” visit was unexpected as Radrizzani was welcomed by board member Alberto Bosco.

Sky Sports Italy journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio released footage (personal website, 22 May) of the Leeds chief leaving the training ground.

“Let’s hope, fingers crossed,” said Radrizzani, when asked about the possibility of buying the club.

Gathering pace

Radrizzani’s move for the Serie A club seems to be gathering pace. It’s clear the Italian wants to maintain some sort of status within European football and purchasing a club in his home country could prove to be a smart piece of business.

Italian clubs can be picked up for pennies in comparison with the Premier League. Leeds, a club who are on the cusp of relegation could well cost the 49ers £400million-plus if they remain in the top flight.

Those sorts of numbers just don’t occur on the continent and in Italy. Apart from AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli, there could potentially be value for Radrizzani to explore in his home country.

Leeds fans should be happy with the news of Radrizzani eyeing up another club. It could well mean that he’s willing to relinquish power at Elland Road, regardless of the club’s league status.

He has done so much good during his tenure in West Yorkshire, but the time is right for him to move on.
