Leeds United amusing chant heard after ‘Farce’ in win v Stoke City
Leeds United supporters showcased their humour in their clash with Stoke City when a thick layer of fog descended on the Bet365 Stadium, which led to chants from the away end.
Leeds moved back to the top of the Championship with a 2-0 win against the Potters on Boxing Day courtesy of a Joel Piroe brace.
Dan James was the man in the spotlight for his heroic performance that saw the Whites leapfrog Sheffield United as a result of their defeat to Burnley but that spotlight wasn’t enough to improve the vision from the away end as intense fog made visibility difficult.
Thankfully, Leeds supporters took the conditions in good spirit with BBC broadcaster Ged Scott reacting to the circumstances in quotes reported via the BBC live blog (26 December).
“If this fog gets any worse, this evening could easily descend into farce,” Scott said. “For now, we’re still in the realms of good humour.
“Cue an amazing chant from the away corner – via the visiting fans… “We’re Leeds United, we can’t see a thing.”
Leeds United in the promotion driving seat
Their victory against Stoke moved Leeds back to the summit of the Championship and it is an accolade that is absolutely deserved.
Barring the occasional blip, Leeds have been magnificent this season and they will certainly remain in the title race throughout the remainder of the season.
Players like James will be at the forefront of their promotion push and if they can maintain the levels of performance that have been showcased throughout the season then very few teams, if any at all, will be able to keep up.

Of course, there is still a long way to go and Leeds cannot afford to rest on their laurels. These performances and results have to stay consistent.
January could play a key role in the race for a Premier League return with interest in several Whites players almost inevitable while there will undoubtedly be several incomings at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, one player’s future may now be sealed at Elland Road.
