Leeds United: Alan Brazil makes new Patrick Bamford demand on talkSPORT in promotion verdict

Leeds United star Patrick Bamford has to start taking his chances better as the Whites continue to push for automatic promotion this season, according to Alan Brazil.

The 30-year-old has fought his way back into Daniel Farke’s side at Elland Road in recent weeks and has been in fine form in front of goal, scoring four goals and laying on one assist in just six Championship starts this term.

However, Brazil thinks that Bamford still needs to become more clinical in the final third to help the Whites finish in the top two this season while admitting he would love to see Ipswich Town reach the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday (22 February, 9:57) he said: “I’d like to see Patrick take his chances a bit better, at least he gets in there.

“Of course I want Ipswich to go up, but I’ve got a couple of Leeds fans and they just absolutely can’t wait for the next game. What a big game this is Friday.”

Can Patrick Bamford fire Leeds United to the Premier League?

After a slow start to the season that saw him criticised by both pundits and supporters alike, Bamford has really got his campaign up and running in 2024 with some excellent goalscoring displays that have coincided with Leeds’ upturn in form.

Farke’s side are blessed with immense attacking talent at Elland Road with the likes of Georginio Rutter and Joel Piroe earning plenty of plaudits, but the Englishman has been just as effective as his peers in recent weeks.

He isn’t the most clinical and he will still miss as many chances as he scores, but Bamford is capable of moments of magic like his FA Cup strike against Peterborough that can be decisive in such a close promotion race.

Hopefully, the 30-year-old can continue to fire in front of goal and be a huge part of the squad as Leeds United look to prove Brazil wrong and pip Ipswich Town to automatic promotion this season.
