Leeds United: Alan Brazil explodes live on talkSPORT as PSR news emerges at Elland Road

Alan Brazil has raged at the constant string of financial concerns emerging across English football, with Leeds United having recently released their latest set of accounts.

Brazil named Leeds in his rant as he pointed out that the club had lost upwards of £100million in the previous year – losses which documents proved were covered by player sales, taking the total loss to just £33million.

Despite points deductions handed to Everton and Nottingham Forest, Kieran Maguire reassured that Leeds would not be in breach of profit and sustainability rules thanks to those player sales.

“He’s got every right to complain,” said Alan Brazil live on talkSPORT [12 April, 08:51] after Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo criticised the points deductions.

“What a disgrace. It’s an absolute joke, shocking, Everton too. Somebody was talking about Leeds the other day, they’ve lost £100-odd-million. It’s just nonsense.”

Maguire’s explanation that the club, for now, is safe from a PSR breach will come as relief for Leeds fans given the situation their fellow relegated club, and title challengers, Leicester have found themselves in this season.

It is that situation that is the main source of Brazil’s rage, as well as those at Everton and Nottingham Forest, as the talkSPORT host couldn’t wrap his head around the constant confusion regarding points deductions and financial issues.

Brazil’s anger is likely echoed by most fans with financial problems now taking centre stage rather than the football itself in a source of frustration to everybody involved in the game.

Leeds have their own views of the financial breaches, particularly from Everton, as it has been suggested they could sue the Premier League and the club for losses after they were relegated in a season the Toffees were proved to have cheated.

In other Leeds United news, Maguire has shared 49ers Enterprises ‘challenges’.
