Leeds United agree to pay £1.5m add-ons for Tottenham ace Djed Spence with medical due

Tottenham have accepted a loan offer from Leeds United for right-back Djed Spence, according to James Olley.

The Senior Football Writer at ESPN reported via his personal Twitter page (29 August) that the 23-year-old is set to leave London and head north to complete his medical ahead of a season-long loan.

An initial loan fee of £500,000 will be paid for the full-back and the cost could rise by a further £1.5million if certain add-ons are achieved.

There is no option to make the transfer permanent included in the deal.

Smart business

This could end up being one of Leeds’ best bits of business of the summer. The fee is minimal and the reward could be very high, as Spence is more than capable of helping the West Yorkshire side achieve promotion back to the Premier League, having previously done this with Nottingham Forest the season before last.

He was one of the standout performers in the division that season and although things have not gone well for him at Tottenham, with the player seeing his game time limited under Antonio Conte, he certainly has more than enough ability to push Daniel Farke’s side forward this season.

Leeds United

In addition to this, if Spence is unable to find the form that made him so devastating for Forest, not much will have been lost due to the relatively low cost of bringing him to Elland Road.

He will certainly be one to keep an eye on this season.

In other Leeds United news, another forward is keen to complete a move to the club before Friday’s deadline.
