Leeds United agree Joseph Painstil in new transfer twist as payment argument starts

Leeds United have now agreed a fee with Genk for the transfer of Joseph Paintsil, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato journalist reported on Monday 28 August that personal terms have also been agreed upon, despite other reports suggesting he now wanted to stay at Genk.

It is shared that the Ghanaian attacker and his agent are stuck in an argument with the Belgian club over a loyalty payment that he may be owed.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Aouna said: “Leeds and Genk have an agreement for the transfer of Joseph Paintsil.

“The player has an agreement in personal terms. But the agent and the player arguing with Genk over a Loyalty Payment.”

What to believe.

Given that contrasting reports are coming out regarding this potential move, it could be very much on, or this could be a false start with the window coming to a close soon.

If a fee and terms have been agreed, Daniel Farke is quietly putting together one of the best attacking groups the Championship may have ever seen.

Joel Piroe, Willy Gnonto, Georginio Rutter and Luis Sinisterra all started and scored in the 4-3 win at Ipswich, and that was a squad that was missing Dan James and had Crysencio Summerville on the bench.

Adding Paintsil to that group could be classed as unfair to the rest of the Championship given that he hit almost 30 total goal involvements at Genk last season.

With arguments over loyalty payments and other reports suggesting the winger has told Genk he wants to stay, there are plenty of twists set for the next four days, it seems.

This is one to watch very closely.
