Leeds United agree deal in principle to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Arnaud Kalimuendo

Leeds United have agreed a deal in principle to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to Graeme Bailey.

The 90min journalist has reported that it has been no issue for the Whites to agree on a fee for the French wonder, but the deal has still stalled in recent days.

New head coach at PSG, Cristophe Galter has taken Kalimuendo on the pre-season tour of Japan where he has impressed, but director Luis Campos is still looking to move him on.

Speaking to the One Leeds Fan YouTube channel, Bailey shared the latest on the pursuit of a new centre-forward at Elland Road this summer.

“The broad principle of the deal is agreed,” he said.

“As with a lot of these deals, agreeing a fee can sometimes be the easiest bit, all of these deals are very different. In Leeds’ case here, agreeing the terms with PSG isn’t the issue, but he’s come back from pre-season and performed very well, Cristophe Galtier has come in and likes what he is seeing, he’s a very good player.

“Luis Campos, the sporting director, he was looking to move him on. It’s not off, it’s just purely stalled.”

Stalled?

This basically sums up our entire search for a new striker.

A deal has been agreed for Kalimuendo but won’t yet happen due to this, and don’t even get us started on Charles De Ketelaere at Club Brugges.

Leeds are willing to overpay by millions to bring in the Belgian wonder, but his wish of going to AC Milan is delaying that possible move despite them struggling to cough up similar funds.

Jesse Marsch will have wanted a new number nine through the door before he returned from Australia, and although that isn’t looking likely now, it isn’t without the want of trying.

Victor Orta has been in overdrive with regards to both Kalimuendo and De Ketelaere, and he must be tearing his hair out at the lack of progress being made.

Hopefully, with pre-season tours coming to an end soon, we can see some real progress being made before the next and last friendly against Cagliari at Elland Road next weekend.
