Leeds United: Adam Pope reacts to latest Sky Sports intervention for QPR clash at Loftus Road

Adam Pope has highlighted the rough nature of the fixture list after Leeds United again had their kick-off time changed for Sky Sports TV coverage.

The BBC journalist reacted via Twitter on 5 April after the announcement from the club that the Whites’ trip to Loftus Road at the end of the month has been scheduled for the Friday night slot on 28 April, asking “really?” when the club are already going to Middlesbrough that Monday night (22 April) for another prime time game.

Leeds have regularly seen their matches moved for TV coverage this season in an ongoing issue which has effected supporters’ travel and planning for Daniel Farke and his staff, something which the club don’t feel they are adequately compensated for by the Championship’s broadcast partner.

Leeds United profile a blessing and a curse for Daniel Farke

Clearly the Whites bring enough interest that Sky Sports want to put their games on TV all the time, which in itself is something of a badge of honour.

But the practical effects of that are less than desirable a lot of the time for the team itself and the fans, particularly for away games.

It is certainly going to be easier said than done for a lot of travelling supporters to get to the North East and then West London and back within the same week, when train timetables are often anything but accommodating.

That Farke’s side are in the midst of such a heated title race only makes the situation more likely to keep occurring, and more infuriating that the potential marginal effects of it could make a negative difference.

Leeds United are obviously not the only club in the world to experience it but the running theme is one of the downsides of what has turned into a very impressive season.

After their win over Hull City the Whites are currently second by a point behind leaders Ipswich, with one-time runaway table-toppers Leicester a point further back with a game in hand.

And if they are going to secure automatic promotion and a potential Championship title then it looks like they are going to do it in front of big audiences all the way to the end.

In other Leeds United news, a senior Whites leader is now expecting to leave the club in the near future says Phil Hay.
