Leeds United ace Mateusz Bogusz ‘surprised’ to hear of loan offers

Polish Under-21 international Mateusz Bogusz could leave Leeds United this summer as he admitted that there has been loan offers for him.

The 20-year-old has spent a number of months out of action after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament last season while on loan at Ibiza but he is nearing the end of his rehabilitation phase and could be back to training in the next four or five weeks.

In an interview with the Laczy Nas Pilka, Bogusz revealed that the Whites had received loan proposals for his services despite not being ready to train yet let alone play but he could also stay at Elland Road this summer.

I heard that there are loan offers in the club, including from Spain and other countries,” he said. “I was very surprised when I found out how many clubs are interested in me.

“Everything will depend on Leeds. I’ve heard rumours that they want to keep me because there’s a new coach and he’ll want to take a look at me.

“First, I want to go back to normal training. Then we will talk and decide where I will play in the fall.”

Patience

There will obviously be a burning desire to go out and play football for Bogusz being just 20 years of age but with such a horrendous injury, he needs to be patient and remain at Thorp Arch.

He has to get back to full fitness with games for the youth sides before then getting into discussions with Jesse Marsch who has not yet seen him play a single game having only joined the club in February after his season-ending injury.

This setback could mean that a loan in January to somewhere in the Football League may become a more viable option and it will be much easier for the Leeds United coaches to keep an eye on him if he plays in England.

Bogusz will also be able to provide some crucial cover in midfield once he is back to being match fit and perhaps allow a youngster like Lewis Bate or Archie Gray to earn valuable experience out on loan unless they break into the senior team in the meantime.

In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta’s pursuit of Nicolas Pepe could be back on as the Gunners look to cull a big portion of their squad.
