Leeds United ace Mateo Joseph gets one-word reply from Liverpool man Bajcetic after what he did
Leeds United ace Mateo Joseph was labelled “top” by Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic on Instagram after his goal for Spain Under-21s on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old scored a sixth goal in seven appearances for his country’s Under-21 side as they defeated Denmark 2-1 (19 November).
Bajcetic, on a season-long loan at Red Bull Salzburg, recognised Joseph’s talent when replying to his post on Instagram.
Joseph wrote: “Great week with Spain. Happy to have contributed with a goal and to continue adding. Thanks for the support always.”.
Bajcetic merely replied: “Top.”
With the international break now over the 21-year-old will be heading back to Elland Road with a spring in his step, hoping to have a similar impact in the Championship.
Joseph needs to replicate international form for Leeds
While Joseph has continued to impress in a Spain shirt, adding to his tally with a goal this time around after a hat-trick against Kazakhstan in October and the winner against Scotland in September, he is yet to show this kind of goalscoring form for Leeds consistently.
Despite starting this season as a starter and scoring two goals and registering three assists, Daniel Farke opted to change his side with Joseph having been subjected to appearances only from the bench for a run of six league games.
However, ahead of the international break, the young forward was put back in the starting line-up and played for 72 minutes before being substituted off, showing his manager does see him as a player capable of performing in his side.

His replacement Joel Piroe came off the bench to score in the game against QPR but, after another impressive international break with Spain, Farke should definitely be looking towards his young gem, who will be full of confidence to start in Sunday’s game against Swansea.
It’s clear that once he gets going he is a player capable of producing as Bajcetic, who is currently on loan at RB Salzburg, has alluded to himself. The key now is for Joseph to find the back of the net again and make his mark on the Leeds side.
