Leeds United ace Jack Harrison loved by Newcastle, one issue for Toon
Newcastle United remain interested in signing Leeds United winger Jack Harrison this summer, according to The Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards.
The Magpies are beginning to shift their transfer focus to the attack having already signed Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope and closing in on Lille centre-half Sven Botman to complete their backline.
Harrison, 25, is the wide attacker that Eddie Howe has his sights set on and Edwards says that “there is a lot of love,” for the Stoke-on-Trent-born Leeds man, via his personal Twitter account.
Despite their billionaire owners from Suadi Arabia, the Toon might not have the transfer budget available to spend this summer as they look to slowly build the club up so as to not be in breach of financial fair play regulations.
As a result, the £30million that Leeds United are asking for [The Telegraph] could well be too much for Newcastle to part ways with at this moment in time but they could look to secure a loan deal instead.
Toon tax
Everybody in world football knows that Newcastle United are by far and away the richest club around and each club wants to get as much money as possible for a player if it’s the Magpies on the prowl.
It’s no different for us either and we could have probably put an even higher price on Harrison if we wanted but it seems that the £30million we asked for has warned them off for now.

Usually, we wouldn’t want to sell a player to a direct rival but Harrison is not a player we would miss massively if he were to leave and should he go to St James’ Park, we would likely get a lot more dough than we would from any other club.
Given the financial clout they have in the North East, we perhaps shouldn’t be looking at them as a team that we can rival just yet because we first need to establish ourselves properly in the Premier League.
We were one game away from going down last year so before we can think of taking them on, we need to settle things down at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, LS11 could be the place where this explosive attacker finds the final piece to his jigsaw and becomes a world-class talent.
