Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter in Marcus Thuram comparison as ‘high levels’ claim made

Leeds United ace Georginio Rutter can reach the levels of the likes of Marcus Thuram and Teemu Pukki, according to Leeds Live journalist William Jackson.

The prediction comes amid the attacker’s bright start to the new Championship campaign under manager Daniel Farke.

The new Whites boss managed Pukki during his time at Norwich City and Thuram during his time at Borussia Monchengladbach.

“Farke has obviously been delighted with the progress he’s seen from the youngster over such a short space of time and he could be heard singing his praises after the 3-0 win over the Hornets,” Jackson wrote for Leeds Live.

“The German knows how to bring the best out of a striker, having found success with the likes of Marcus Thuram and Teemu Pukki, and he knows how Rutter can start to reach those high levels.”

Only way is up

Rutter can only get better at Leeds, with the attacker having really struggled in his early stages at the club. That was perhaps down to a lack of confidence as he failed to live up to his club-record price tag.

The forward perhaps also needed time to settle into life in England given his new surroundings and indeed his age. Moreover, things were not going well generally for the Whites, with plenty of pressure slapped on Rutter to provide the goals that they needed to stay in the Premier League.

That wasn’t the case, but the 21-year-old has made an impressive start to the new season, with Leeds fans starting to realise why so much money was spent to bring him to Elland Road.

He boasts two goals and two assists from his seven league appearances this season, with fans eager for both tallies to increase as the weeks go on.

In other Leeds United news, Joel Piroe has sent a three-word message to one of his Whites teammates after their 3-0 win against Watford.
