Leeds United ace Charlie Cresswell given extra holiday time as Thorp Arch update emerges
Leeds United ace Charlie Cresswell is not expected back at pre-season training on Monday (10 July), according to Leeds Live.
The publication noted that the young defender will be given time to recuperate following his involvement in the Under-21 European Championship with England.
The 20-year-old centre-back was part of the Young Lions squad that won the tournament, with Lee Carsley’s side defeating Spain 1-0 on Saturday (8 July).

“Charlie Cresswell isn’t expected to be back this morning,” according to Leeds Live.
“The centre-back has been in Georgia representing England at the European U21 Championships and he was an unused substitute on Saturday evening as the Three Lions saw off Spain the final to get their hands on the trophy for the first time in 39 years.
“As such, he’ll be allowed a little while longer to recuperate before returning.”

Well-deserved rest
Cresswell wasn’t exactly a regular figure on the pitch throughout the recent Under-21 European Championship, with the defender handed just one appearance throughout the tournament by manager Carsley.
But it was an important one as the Whites ace played the entire 90 minutes in the 2-0 group stage win over Germany, with the victory helping the Young Lions continue their superb momentum before the knockout stages.
More importantly, Cresswell went into the competition on the back of a lengthy Championship campaign with Millwall, where the centre-back made 30 appearances in all competitions.
It was a big ask for such a young player, but the 20-year-old dealt with the pressure well, and is no doubt relaxing at this moment in time before heading back to Thorp Arch to meet up with the rest of the Leeds squad.
Those players are currently working hard at Thorp Arch as the Whites prepare for their first pre-season clash; a meeting with Manchester United in Oslo on Wednesday (12 July).
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are trying their luck on a deal to sign an “extremely smart” defender, but the selling club wants a permanent move for the player.
