Leeds United accept Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams will leave amid £25m development

Leeds United have accepted that they may lose Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson this summer following relegation from the Premier League, according to 90Min.

Adams, 24, swiftly emerged as a crucial component for the Whites since his move from RB Leipzig last summer and is attracting Premier League interest with Arsenal and Newcastle United [Football.London, 4 May] both interested ahead of this summer’s window.

Aaronson only joined the Whites last summer in a high-profile switch from Red Bull Salzburg and is said to be exploring his options with a relegation clause being placed in his contract [Fabrizio Romano, 29 May] which has now been confirmed as £25m [90Min].

And according to 90Min [30 May], Leeds United are now resigned to losing both players following relegation to the Championship.

“90min understands that Adams and Aaronson are likely to leave just one year after heading to Yorkshire.

“The latter has a relegation release clause of around £25m – the same amount Leeds paid to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg last summer – and is believed to have suitors in Germany”, the report reveals.

Sour blow

Leeds United were always bound to garner much interest from many of their key stars which has only been further compounded by their relegation to the Championship, which now gives the players a reason to depart.

Both Adams and Aaronson are highly-valuable and very marketable players right now, which means Leeds United should be set to attract the attention of plenty of European clubs for their signature.

It remains to be seen whether the Whites can keep both players for next season, although Adams does seem the most likely to be loyal and commit his future to the club but should attractive offers come his way this summer, he may be swayed to leave Elland Road.

Aaronson hasn’t quite hit the heights of expected of him by the Leeds United faithful and some fans may well be desiring to see the back of him, as a result, and the club may be incredibly open to accepting his release clause if it’s triggered, proving them with some valuable funds to kick off their rebuild.

Should Adams depart this summer though, the Whites must not be bullied into a cheap sale. With his contract at Elland Road still having valuable years to run, Leeds United are arguably in a strong position right now. Anything lower than £20m-£25m should be classed as unacceptable.
