Brenden Aaronson returns to action - Confirmed Leeds United starting XI v Real Sociedad

Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United starting XI against Real Sociedad in an Elland Road-friendly clash has been confirmed by the club.

Marsch made three changes from the side that escaped embarrassment against doomed La Liga outfit Elche on December 8 in a 2-1 win.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, Leeds United have welcomed back Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson to their starting XI, with Leo Hjelde, Joe Geldhardt and Crysencio Summerville dropped.

Mateusz Klich starring in the heart of the side is a huge talking point, with exit talk at Elland Road going into overdrive in the last couple of weeks.

It’s getting serious.

The Elche game can be seen as a bit of a nothing fixture, with it being the first competitive game back for Leeds United since the FIFA World Cup break.

But with Premier League action resuming on the 28, the game against Real Sociedad should be more a serious matter and a good gauge of where Marsch’s men are at.

Leeds United’s defence during the Elche friendly was comical at times and this is something that needs to be sorted out sooner, rather than later.

Sociedad will also be a good look into how the Whites fare without Crysencio Summerville, the youngster has added so much flair to Marsch’s attack recently, they may struggle without him.

Nevertheless, his absence gives the likes of Wilfried Gnonto and Sam Greenwood to step up in his absence, and with luck, they can make stars out of themselves too.

Let’s hope the Whites can keep up an unbeaten streak of friendlies before the English top-flight returns.

In other Leeds United news, talks are underway over this player quitting Elland Road for a high-paid contract.
