49ers may have seen £500m moment at Leeds United as Premier League survival on cards
Leeds United director and San Francisco 49ers chief Paraag Marathe was spotted at Elland Road during the club’s 1-0 win over Southampton and could have witnessed a £500m moment.
The Athletic reported on 17 January that the 49ers proposed full takeover of Leeds United could come to a total in the region of half a billion pounds.
Marathe’s attendance at the game on Saturday makes Junior Firpo’s winner even more significant as Premier League survival will likely go hand in hand with a full-takeover bid.
The Guardian reported on 21 February that the option to take full control of the club could be put in jeopardy if Leeds United were to be relegated.
However, Firpo’s goal could be the start of brighter days and times in West Yorkshire and it may be the pivotal moment the 49ers chose to cash in at Elland Road.

Moving forward.
Everyone knows the 49ers taking full control of Leeds United is what the club needs to progress and move forward from Andrea Radrizanni and co.
The Italian seems to have done all he can to take the club to a certain level and change would be welcomed by most in West Yorkshire.
A win on Saturday afternoon hasn’t changed the mood completely but with Marathe in attendance, it certainly could be the £500m moment for a takeover to be completed soon.
Javi Gracia already seems to have imprinted his ideas and philosophy on this Leeds side with only a week at the helm, something which bodes well for Premier League survival.
It’s been a fairly calamitous season so far for the Whites and a change in fortune and luck is deserved and needed to get things going yet again.
The future is starting to look slightly brighter and it can become even better with the guidance of the 49ers and their full ownership of the club.
