Leeds striker Mateo Joseph scores Spain U21s wonder goal as footage emerges
Mateo Joseph is one of several players on the fringes of Leeds’ squad who are expected to leave this summer.
Daniel Farke’s side secured their return to the top-flight after winning the Championship title this term, but the likes of Joseph are expected to be casualties as they attempt to make the step up to the Premier League.
The Spanish youth international was forced to settle for predominantly substitute appearances in the second tier this season, and that is unlikely to change this time around, with Leeds desperately needing to add to their attacking ranks.
That quest for reinforcements at the top of the pitch is expected to signal the end of Joseph’s time in West Yorkshire.

Joseph scored a wonder goal for Spain in their U21 Euros opener
Joseph has endured a difficult individual season, despite being part of what was a hugely successful campaign for the Whites as a collective.
The forward’s performances have still done enough to catch the eye of the Spanish national team programme, and he switched allegiances from England back in March.
He has made a bright start to his time with Spain’s U21s, having notched five goals in four games during their qualifying campaign.
Joseph found the back of the net once again in his side’s opening game of the tournament, as he finished off a flowing team move to put Spain 2-0 up in the early stages.
They eventually went on to win 3-2, marking a positive start to the tournament for Joseph and his team.
Spain posted full match highlights, including Joseph’s goal, via their official X account (11 June).
Joseph’s international form won’t change his Leeds future
Explosive form in international football can be the sort of thing that prompt clubs to change their minds on a player’s future, however in Joseph’s case, it seems highly unlikely that will happen.

Joel Piroe had a fantastic season for the Elland Road outfit this term and has firmly established himself as Farke’s first-choice striker.
However, if Leeds are to survive in the Premier League, there is an acknowledgement that even he will likely need to fall down the pecking order somewhat.
The Whites lack top-flight experience throughout the squad at present, but that problem is arguably most prevalent in their attack.
If they can get the additions that they so desperately need through the door, then Joseph will surely depart, irrespective of his Spain exploits.
